REPORT: Patrik Schick on Verge of Bayer Leverkusen Move

Schick

With Kai Havertz on the verge of a £100 million move to Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen will reportedly look to instantly reinvest that money into the transfer of Patrik Schick. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga club will pay £25 million, plus add ons, to AS Roma to secure Schick’s signature this summer.

REPORT: Schick Nearing Leverkusen Move

A Replacement for Havertz

As Havertz reportedly swaps Germany for Chelsea and England, Patrick Shick will reportedly swap Rome for Bayer Leverkusen. The Czech Republic international will arrive with the difficult task of replacing the goals, assists, and all-round play of Havertz.

The forward may struggle, however, to replicate the German’s impact, especially when considering the fact he only netted 10 goals last season while on loan at RB Leipzig.

Towards the end of his Leipzig tenure, Schick failed to replace Timo Werner. Now, seemingly on the verge of a Leverkusen move, he will be tasked with the greater responsibility of replacing Havertz.

Schick will also come up against his former teammates in the Bundesliga should he complete the Leverkusen move. The forward, previously on loan at Leipzig, will be forced to come up against his former side not once, but twice this season.

The Chance for Leverkusen to Add Squad Depth?

With £100 million via the Havertz deal hitting the Leverkusen bank account, the chance is there for them to spend this summer. This should see a significant amount of squad depth added and, in the process, the quality needed for Champions League qualification.

Last season, they missed out by small margins in their quest to reach the biggest stage of European football. This season, however, should they spend the money wisely, they could reach the Champions League with ease.

Patrik Schick will certainly look to play a big part in reaching that target, too, as he kick starts a career at Leverkusen.
