REPORT: Leroy Sane Considering Remaining at Manchester City

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane may stay at Manchester City after all, according to a new report by Mike McGrath of The Telegraph. Sane has been rumoured with a move to Bayern Munich, but after issues with negotiations both last summer and this winter, both sides might be better off without the other.

Leroy Sane Considering Manchester City Stay

The Saga Continues

This story has seen several twists already. It was only last year when Leroy Sane was inches from signing for Bayern Munich only to inexplicably tear his ACL right before the move could be completed. Now it seems like the two sides couldn’t be further apart.

The divide started immediately after his injury. Bayern were reluctant to spend over €100 million on someone who still hasn’t played since, nor had City agreed to Bayern’s proposed price tag. So all parties decided to suspend their negotiations until Sane was in a better condition to play.

Even as late as early January it seemed like a deal was still highly likely. Since then, however, Sane has changed agents, and his new representatives want to draw up new personal terms. According to the report by The Telegraph, they were reportedly trying to push Bayern to make a move for Sane this winter.

But the German Champions had no interest in completing the move this winter. Bayern want to sign him this summer when his contract only has one-year left. Though as time goes on they are becoming wary with Sane’s unwillingness to commit to the move.

With all of that said, Manchester City still have a new contract on the table for Leroy Sane.  The indecision about his future comes perfectly in time for his return. Sane played for the City U23s earlier this week and could feature on the bench for the Manchester Derby on Sunday.

An Opportunity

So these next few weeks represent an opportunity for all parties. It is a time for Manchester City to convince Sane to stay or for Bayern Munich to decide if they still want to sign him. This is also an opportunity for Sane. He comes back right in time to make an impact on the serious part of the season, and remind everyone of who he is.
