Serbian Wonderkid Signs for Sunderland

Who is Milan Aleksic?

Milan Aleksic is an 18-year-old box-to-box midfielder. He started his career with FK Partizan, representing the Serbian side until 2023 when he joined FK Radnicki 1923. He would help his new team to a fifth-place finish last season scoring twice and registering seven assists. Their final league position meant qualification for this season’s UEFA Conference League qualifiers. Aleksic has already scored twice in these qualifiers and has impressed with his ability to dictate play despite his young age.

Aleksic has won five caps for Serbia’s U18 team and a further three caps at U19 level. He could now find himself on the brink of making his senior debut after making the squad for Nations League ties with Spain and Denmark.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman on New Signing Milan Aleksic

Sunderland’s Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said: “Milan is an incredibly talented young player, who is on the fringe of national team selection. We appreciate his creativity and versatility but understand that we’ll need to be patient as he adapts to a new country and a new Club. Although we will not rush his involvement, his progress to date and talent means that we firmly believe he can become an important player for Sunderland in the future. Attracting a talent like Milan underlines our progress as a Club and our continued track record in nurturing talent in an elite environment, which is a testament to our staff behind the scenes at the Academy of Light.”
