How Much Are Chelsea Ready to Pay for Omorodion?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Blues are continuing discussions with the La Liga club over the possibility of signing their young forward this summer. This comes as they are looking to find a resolution on the future of Conor Gallagher, who is reportedly close to a move to the Spanish side.

The journalist adds that “interest remains concrete” from Chelsea and that the possibility of a transfer all depends on Atletico Madrid themselves. He also states that Chelsea have hinted that they would be willing to make a bid of around £30 million for the 21-year-old to help advance the state of negotiations. However, everything depends on what long-term plans the La Liga side have for Omorodion and if they are even willing to let him leave this summer after having seen him impress on loan at Deportivo Alaves last season.

How Will Omorodion Fit in at Chelsea?

The Blues are unlikely to be signing a young forward like Omorodion in hopes that he’ll turn out to be an immediate success, or even start him in every match for the upcoming campaign. He is being sought after to help improve their depth in striker options and to also provide competition to the likes of Nicolas Jackson and even new summer signing Marc Guiu.

The Spain U21 international has scored two goals in seven matches for La Roja’s young squad and the 2022/23 season was actually his first playing in the top flight. He scored nine goals and provided one assist in 35 appearances for Alaves, which included two goals against Barcelona.

The 20-year-old has been praised for his “extraordinary” rise to playing in a top division like La Liga at such a young age and the 6 foot 4 inch tall forward is blessed with impressive physical strength, ability to win aerial duels, and finishing qualities. Chelsea definitely have potential long-term rewards in mind when looking at Omorodion, but it remains to be seen if they’re able to sign him.
