Sunderland Round-Up: EPL Club to ‘Attack’ Jobe Bellingham Transfer

Jobe Bellingham Transfer a Palace Dream

According to the Sunderland Echo via Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are in hot pursuit of Jobe Bellingham. During Romano’s daily videos, he said: “Jobe Bellingham is wanted by Crystal Palace. He is also wanted by Brentford and other English clubs, but I would keep an eye on Palace because they are pushing.

“Their manager Oliver Glasner wants Bellingham, and so now it depends on the player, because if he gives the green light they are prepared to go strong on this one.

“As soon as Bellingham decides, together with his family, Palace are prepared to attack the situation. Contacts have been taking place already, and he’s absolutely one of their dream targets, so keep an eye on this one.”

The 18-year-old signed for Sunderland from Birmingham City last summer for an undisclosed fee on a long-term contract. He went on to make 47 appearances, scoring seven goals. It is believed that the Black Cats want at least £20 million.

Chris Rigg Set to Stay

Sunderland are set for a huge boost as pre-season training begins. England’s U17 captain Chris Rigg is set to sign his first professional contract with the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Rigg will sign a three-year deal. The 17-year-old had been weighing up his options with other clubs interested and the Black Cats taking their time over appointing a new head coach.

However, a deal is now close and is expected to be signed in the coming days.

Callum Styles Returns to Barnsley

Versatile Hungary international midfielder Callum Styles will not be extending his stay on Wearside. He joined in January on loan with a view to a permanent move; however, it has been decided that Styles will not be joining.

Sunderland’s sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said: “As we continue to plan for the new season, we have decided not to take the option in Callum’s loan agreement and therefore his time with us has concluded. Callum’s attitude and application was first class throughout his time at the Club and we wish him well for the future.”
