With injuries plaguing Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, Manchester United are in search of a long-term solution at the left-back spot. According to Fabrizio Romano the Red Devils have an interest in Bournemouth’s exciting defender, Milos Kerkez.

Manchester United’s Interest
Romano has revealed that the historic club “will bring in a new left-back for sure this summer”. This comes after a season in which Luke Shaw was fit to play just 12 games in the league, and Diogo Dalot was forced to cover for him in the opposite flank.
Kerkez is “one of the players being monitored” though there have been “no talks yet”.

Unsurprisingly, “Bournemouth have no intention to make it easy” and will demand an “important fee” for the 20-year-old. They signed him just a year ago for £15 million.

How Milos Kerkez Would Fit in at Manchester United
The “crazy” youngster is a very attacking left-back, despite his tame attacking output (just one assist for the Cherries).
Under Andoni Iraola he has constantly made overlapping runs, allowing Justin Kluivert (in the middle) to find him in plenty of space in the final third. From here, the Hungarian has used his tricky feet and speed to beat defenders – a prime example being the penalty that he won against Aston Villa in April.

This could benefit United as Alejandro Garnacho often drives with the ball and drifts centrally to utilise his dribbling and creativity. Kerkez overlapping would create space for the Argentinian to move into, but also provide a passing option. The duo could wreak havoc on right-backs in the league.
Alternatively, at AZ Alkmaar the left-back enjoyed an inverted run – either with or without the ball. He would often drive up the pitch and even shoot. He has also shown a willingness to shoot on the South Coast, forcing good saves from Ederson Moraes and Andre Onana at the Vitality Stadium.
It would not be surprising to see Kerkez transformed into an inverted full-back at Old Trafford: this seems to be a trend amongst top clubs. This could work if Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts more next season, with the right-back far more defensive and conservative.
