Chelsea look poised to end the 2023/24 season by securing a top-six finish in the Premier League after what has been a real rollercoaster of a campaign. Amid this, the club are continuing with the plans to improve their squad for next term and have gotten an interesting update on the situation of Girona striker Artem Dovbyk.

Chelsea Told Girona Forward Artem Dovbyk Release Clause Amount

How Much Must Chelsea Pay To Sign Dovbyk?

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the 26-year-old Ukrainian forward has a release clause inserted into his Girona contract. He adds that the amount of the clause comes down to around £34.2 million, which can make him a bargain signing for any European club in the summer. It’s also added that the Spanish team will not try to negotiate an increase to that clause either.

Chelsea are reportedly on the hunt for a new striker and Romano acknowledges their links to the 26-year-old forward in the January window. While the Blues did not make any move for him in the winter window, the journalist adds that the situation in the summer is still “open” and the Premier League side might make a ploy to sign him after this campaign is over. In his CaughtOffside blog, Romano also noted: “As for the player, he’s really open in terms of his next move, he doesn’t have a specific league in mind – it depends on the project, the manager, and what they want to do with him.”

Which Else Players Have Chelsea Been Linked With?

The Blues seem to be moving swiftly in the summer transfer window in an attempt to strengthen their team for the 2024/25 campaign. They are already being strongly linked to Brazilian teenage sensation Estevao Willian and are reportedly on the verge of making a bid to sign him. The Blues have also been reported to hold an interest in RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko and have also been linked to Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen.

However, signing Dovbyk, who has been hailed as “one of the best” in La Liga, could be a much cheaper option for them in the summer. The 26-year-old Girona forward has been one of the best forwards in the 2023/24 La Liga season, having scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 34 matches to help them qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Now it remains to be seen if Chelsea accelerate their interest in signing Dovbyk and bring another Ukranian to Stamford Bridge after Mykhailo Mudryk.
