How Everton Have Lined Up Recently
The last six Premier League matches have seen Everton line up with the same back four. Vitaliy Mykolenko and Ben Godfrey have been on the flanks while James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite are the first-choice centre-back pairing. These four have been in front of Jordan Pickford, who has started every league game this season.
Due to injuries, the midfield has received heavy rotation in the new year. The one constant has been James Garner, who has played in the base of the three central players. Alongside him in the last match was Amadou Onana, who was in place of the injured Idrissa Gueye. Heading the central three has been Abdoulaye Doucoure after his return from a hamstring injury. Out wide have been Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison with the rotation of veteran Ashley Young.
Beto was given a rare Premier League start last time out against West Ham, scoring the team’s only goal. The Portuguese striker was named ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has failed to score in his previous 21 games in all competitions.
Everton’s Recent Form and Tactics
The Toffees have failed to win in their last 10 Premier League games, the longest winless streak in the league this season. They face a Red Devils team that has lost their previous two games but was one of the inform teams before those results.

Manager Sean Dyche’s favoured formation is a 4-2-3-1 when in possession but will often switch to a 4-4-2 when defending. A system that has allowed the fifth fewest goals in the league but has been unable to produce going forward, only scoring 29 goals this term.
Everton leads the league in long ball attempts, they will look to continue this trend and fire balls into the striker, be it Beto or DCL. This is often to the benefit of Doucoure, the Malian excelling this season in the second striker position. The long ball will look to circumvent one of United’s best abilities, the team ranking fifth in tackles in their attacking third.
Everton’s Injuries to Consider
Everton are without the services of Arnaut Danjuma, the Dutch winger recovering from an ankle injury he suffered against Fulham on January 30 but may be available for the following match. Gueye is doubtful to return to the squad but may feature from the bench.
