Arsenal to Give More Importance to the Youth Setups
As per David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Gunners are preparing for the summer where they will be focussing and spending heavily on youth players. This might signal a change in approach where previously the club have focussed on developing youngsters already present at the academy.
One could attribute this decision to the recent success stories elsewhere in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s academy players have stepped up in the absence of several key senior members of the squad. The likes of Jayden Danns, Conor Bradley, and Jarell Quansah played a pivotal part as the Reds overcame Chelsea in the recently concluded Carabao Cup final.
In addition to this, players like Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United and Lewis Miley at Newcastle United among many others have outperformed some of their more expensive senior counterparts.

Academy Players in the First-Team Squad Currently
Mikel Arteta’s side owe a lot of their current success to youngsters who have come through the famed Arsenal academy. Players like Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Reiss Nelson, and Eddie Nketiah are all products of Hale End who have played a key role in the club’s rise to the top over the last couple of years.
Additionally, Arteta has also called up players like Reuell Walters, Ethan Nwaneri, and Charles Sagoe Jr. to the first-team squad this season. Ornstein further states that this would be “the first time in a long time” that the Gunners have made a decision to spend heavily on youngsters in the transfer market.
Investment in these youth teams would undoubtedly benefit a team on the rise like Arsenal in the years to come and is certainly an exciting time for fans of the club.
