How Liverpool Have Lined-up Recently

Caoimhin Kelleher starts in goal. Conor Bradley starts at right-back, with Andy Robertson at left-back. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are centre-backs.

In midfield, Wataru Endo starts in the middle. Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones have played, but injuries have seen minutes for youngsters like James McConnell and Bobby Clark.

Luis Diaz starts on the left wing with Harvey Elliott on the right and Cody Gakpo down the middle.

Liverpool’s Recent Form and Tactics

Liverpool beat Southampton 3-0 in the FA Cup, but it was not as simple as the score-line suggests.

Within the first ten minutes, Kelleher was forced to make two 1-on-1 saves. Within the first five minutes, Southampton had hit the post and scored a marginally offside goal.

Even in the second half, the Saints managed an expected goals of 1.20 (exceeding Liverpool’s) and missed three big chances. The Reds were let off on numerous occasions throughout the match.

It was the youngsters that shone for Jurgen Klopp. Clark managed an assist, Lewis Koumas scored on his debut, and McConnell played over an hour.

Jayden Danns was the man of the match, scoring two goals off the bench. He showed excellent composure, chipping Joe Lumley for his first and great instinct to latch onto a rebound for his second.

This bodes well for future matches in which Klopp may need to rely on his “kids” during this injury crisis.

Liverpool Injuries to Consider Vs Nottingham Forest

Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai “trained yesterday with the team” and should be available.

However, Mohamed Salah “will not feature tomorrow” but is “[not] too far off”.

Endo is being monitored after missing the FA Cup match due to a knock, whilst Robertson and Mac Allister recover from illness.
