Update on Transfer of Young English Talent
The player who will be joining Howes’ ranks is English midfielder Alfie Harrison. A youth academy graduate from Manchester City, the 18-year-old was training with the Sky Blues’ U18 squad before joining Newcastle to seek more guaranteed time on the pitch. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted Wednesday that the Magpies “have just signed the formal documents” for the deal.
It is a long-term move for Newcastle. Harrison’s contract, according to Romano, ” is valid until June 2027 with an option for a further season.” Unproven at the professional level, the youngster will have time to develop and grow under Howe. But, despite his lack of experience, the Magpies are “convinced of his potential for present and future.”

What is evident in Harrison’s playing style is that he is a “rising star”. He regularly finishes and creates goals for whatever youth squad he plays with. Newcastle and Howe know that it will take time to find out if their transfer was a good decision. For now, though, it appears they stole another talented player from under City’s nose.
