Wolves are “showing interest” in the transfer of 19-year-old Welsh international midfielder, Jordan James, according to Fabrizio Romano, who says Premier League competitor Crystal Palace are also keen on the Birmingham City youngster.

Who is Jordan James?
The young Blues midfielder is a product of his side’s academy and made his senior debut at 17 years old in November 2021. Since that time, he has established himself as a mainstay of the Midland club’s squad, featuring 79 times and scoring seven goals. Although he made two appearances for the England U20 side, he has since declared for Wales: the country of his father. He made his senior international debut in March 2023 aged 18, coming off the bench against Croatia in a Euro 2024 qualifying game.

He was described as “technically very good and versatile,” able to play in “both offensive and defensive areas of the pitch” by the former head of professional development at his club, Mike Dodd.
The second-city club have deployed him equally as a defensive and attacking midfielder, but the player himself says that he feels more comfortable in a deeper position.
How Likely Is He to Sign For Wolves?
Per Romano, the midfielder had agreed personal terms with the Serie A outfit Atalanta, but their formal bid of around £3.8 million was rejected at the beginning of the window.
With Palace interested, The Wanderers will hope to avoid a bidding war. Their compliance with financial fair play regulations remains tight, and club figures have publicly dampened expectations about transfers this window.

Manager Gary O’Neil has spoken about the importance of signing a number nine, and bizarrely, midfield is one of the few positions the Black Country club have a surplus in. It would be a surprising move if James became a top priority for the old gold side, but few teams would turn their noses up at a talented, homegrown youngster for a low fee.
