Are Arsenal Really Going To Make A Move For Simons?
Fabrizio Romano has acknowledged the Gunners’ recent links to a move for the Dutch winger due to his excellent performances on loan at RB Leipzig. The journalist claims that Arsenal followed his situation last summer but opted against making a move for the youngster, who instead went on to join Paris Saint-Germain.

He adds in his CaughtOffside column: “PSG are very happy with his loan in Leipzig, and decision time will be in the summer – nothing is being decided in January for Xavi Simons.” So it’s clear that Mikel Arteta’s side are not looking to end Simons’ loan spell at the Bundesliga club and sign him anytime soon, as the 22-year-old’s future is instead going to be decided by the Ligue 1 heavyweights after the end of the current campaign.
Will Arsenal Make Any Signings In January?
Arsenal spent a lot of money in the 2023 summer window, breaking their transfer record to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United and also paying big money to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea. As a result, they don’t seem to have that much left to spend in January. Even though fans have been asking for a new striker, Arteta has already dismissed that by hinting that would be unrealistic.
They could look to sign a versatile player like Simons, who can play in either wing and even as an attacking midfielder, in the upcoming summer window. The 20-year-old, who was praised as “technically strong” by Thomas Tuchel earlier this season, has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 27 appearances for Leipzig this season and is likely to attract a lot of transfer interest in the summer if PSG are open to selling him.
