According to Paul Joyce and Gary Jacob of The Times, West Ham are following Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez to bolster their attack. The Dutch club are reportedly not keen on selling the player in January. However, a high offer from the Hammers could potentially lure them into selling their striker.

Joyce and Jacob mention that the Premier League club are monitoring the status of Gimenez. The club wants to bring him into the squad in January to help with the injury issues they are currently facing. Lucas Paqueta, Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus are the attackers sidelined due to injury for the London side.

The injury issues have made the Londoners very thin in attack, and they could benefit from a signing like Gimenez. However, Feyenoord will reportedly not let go of the player as they are keen to “fend off interest” until the summer window. They want to keep the player for the rest of the season, but a tempting offer could change their stance.

Who is Gimenez?

The 22-year-old has been in fantastic form for the Eredivisie side this season. He has scored 20 times in 22 appearances this season, a fantastic return for any striker. The Mexico international is usually deployed in a centre-forward position where he can use his stellar finishing ability to the fullest. The player has garnered praise from all around, with Mario Been referring to him as “truly fantastic“.

The youngster is also a skilled dribbler, which gives him an advantage in tight spaces. His ability to read the game, with his smart movement, can prove to be an asset for The Irons if they manage to bring him in.
