How Tottenham Hotspur Have Lined-up Recently

It’s been a fairly consistent starting 11 from Ange Postecoglou this season. He’s opted for a defence of Destiny Udogie, vice-captain Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Pedro Porro. These four, backed up by new summer arrival Guglielmo Vicario between the sticks, have led to Spurs conceding the second-fewest goals of the season thus far.

In midfield, it’s been a double pivot of African duo Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr with August Premier League player of the month James Maddison in attacking midfield. Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Heung-min Son have been the three most selected forwards for Postecoglou, with skipper Son being the main man up front.Embed from Getty Images

Tottenham Hotspur Recent Form and Tactics

Sitting at the top of the table going into this game, the Lilywhites’ form couldn’t be better. They have picked up 23 points out of a possible 27 on offer, and it has led to Postecoglou winning back-to-back Premier League Manager of the Month awards.

Playing a style that is much different than in recent seasons, Tottenham are first for shots and shots on target in the league. This free-flowing attacking football, coupled with results going in the right direction, has seen a ‘feel good’ factor return to the club for the first time since the peak of the Mauricio Pochettino era.

Tottenham Injuries to Consider

Both Udogie and  Sarr were substituted relatively early in the second half during Monday’s match against Fulham which saw the North London outfit go 2 points clear at the top of the table.

In his pre match press conference, Postecoglou stated that Udogie was taken off with fatigue and will have to be assessed on Friday in order to see if he can start. This would be slightly concerning for Spurs given how impressive the Italian international has been since making his debut in August. In better news, he revealed that Sarr is fine and fit for selection.

In other team news, Bissouma is set to return from suspension and will look to reclaim his place in the starting 11, although he will face come competition from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who had an impressive showing against the Cottagers on Monday night as he filled in for the Mali international.

Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon all remain out for the long term.
