Manchester United have had a disappointing start to the 2023/24 season, and they seem to be putting in work in their scouting missions outside Europe and appear to have identified a possible target for the future in South America.

Who is Luis Guilherme?

Luis Guilherme has already become a regular for the Palmeires senior team at 17 years old – despite mostly playing as an impact substitute. The teenager is an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing if necessary.

He has made 22 appearances for the Brazilian side so far – but yet to get a goal contribution. That includes 14 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A league. The 17-year-old has also made four appearances for the Brazil U-17 team, scoring two goals in those games. Guilherme has been praised for his dribbling ability and creativity, looking sharp in matches for Palmeiras, which has seen him hailed a “Phenomenal Wonderkid.”

Are United Really Interested in Guilherme?

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Manchester United are now monitoring the development of Guilherme – after noticing his impressive work in Brazil. He adds that a member of their scouting department has been travelling around the South American country to keep an eye on the talented players and that the Palmeiras youngster is one that the scout is monitoring.

The journalist also states that more than five important clubs from Europe, including those from Germany and England are following the development of Guilherme. Romano adds that the interest from Man Utd is still “a work in progress” and it remains to be seen what they decide to do with their interest in the Brazilian star in 2024. The Red Devils seem to be expanding their scouting system to cover more countries.
