According to Romano, Spurs and Forest are expected to reach an agreement over the signing of Johnson on a permanent transfer. Both clubs are looking to get the move over the line before the transfer window slams shut.

The Welsh forward has already given the “green light” to the move with the North London club hoping he can be a key part of their fight for European football under the exciting guidance of Ange Postecoglou.
Johnson Always Considered a ‘Priority’ by Spurs
Despite opening negotiations for Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, Johnson remained the priority for Postecoglou’s side. The 21-year-old was crucial in Nottingham Forest’s survival in the Premier League last season, as he featured in all 38 matches, scoring eight goals and adding three assists.

In the season prior, Johnson also played in all 46 Championship matches for Forest. His manager Steve Cooper described the Welsh international as a ‘fantastic player’ earlier this year.
Competition for Signature
Postecoglou’s side are not the only club who have looked at Johnson over the course of this window. So far Forest have been able to fend off a £35 million offer from Brentford as well as interest from fellow West London side Chelsea. Spurs, however, are set to finally break the club’s resolve and confirm a deal for the young prospect.
Impact on Both Clubs
Forest have already secured their replacement for Johnson with Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi currently undertaking his medical at the Nottingham Forest training ground.
Although not a direct like-for-like, Hudson-Odoi can provide the pace to complement main striker Taiwo Awoniyi, as Johnson did so well last season.

As for Spurs, despite a brilliant start to the campaign, there had been concerns over their firepower up front. Richarlison is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League this season. Johnson could offer the threat and link-up play needed under Postecoglou and could displace the Brazillian international from the side.
