Amrabat is the Answer to United’s Early Season Struggles

Watch: Manchester United VERY CLOSE to Deadline Day Sofyan Amrabat Signing

There has been a lot of talk about the poor performances, despite being just three games into the new Premier League season. The midfield, in particular, has been overrun by the likes of Wolves and Tottenham and fans have been crying out for a partner alongside Casemiro to help shore up the middle of the pitch.

The Red Devils have picked up six points from the opening three fixtures but could easily have none as Wolves played United off the pitch at times during the opening game of the season. Nottingham Forest also raced into a two-goal lead at Old Trafford in the most recent game and this has forced the club to act on deadline day and make a move for Amrabat.

Deal Structured to Adhere to FFP

Sky Sports are reporting that the Italian club had preferred a permanent deal upfront but with the Premier League side having heavily invested in the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, a compromise was reached that will see the deal completed as an initial loan move with an option to buy for £21.4 million.

The loan fee is being reported as £8.5 million, taking the overall deal closer to £30 million. Amrabat starred for his club last season, helping them to reach both the Italian Cup and Europa Conference League finals.

What Amrabat Will Bring to United

The Morocco international rose to prominence during his nation’s surprise run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, which ended in a fourth-place finish. Comfortable on the ball, the 27-year-old should slot in seamlessly into life at Old Trafford and help to dictate games from a deep-lying position. He is excellent at breaking up play and lines up perfectly to fix his new side’s soft centre in the Premier League so far this season.

Spain manager Luis Enrique was impressed by many of Morocco’s World Cup stars after they defeated his Spain side in the last 16, including the midfielder. He stated after the game “Achraf [Hakimi], En-Nesyri, Amrabat and Ziyech are extraordinary players.”
