The Manchester-born youngster, who plays as a centre-back and is also a Manchester United academy graduate, is on the cusp of moving to the recently promoted Luton Town in the coming days for an undisclosed fee.

The youngster has undergone loan spells with Derby County and Birmingham City. However, he hasn’t yet gained any experience with the Red Devils’ senior team in the Premier League.
Although he made an appearance in the 2020 Europa League game against LASK, he is still to make his senior Premier League debut. The move to Luton would be advantageous for him as it offers the prospect of getting some game time on the world’s biggest footballing stage.
Mengi’s Performance With Loan Clubs
Mengi wrapped up his first loan spell away from Manchester with Derby County in the latter part of the 2021 season, under the management of Wayne Rooney, during which he made nine appearances for the club.

Regrettably, his loan was cut short due to a hamstring injury which prompted his return to Carrington, as he was projected to remain sidelined for the rest of the season.
As the year came to a close, Mengi was in the midst of his recovery and focused on finding another loan opportunity to return to the field. This led him to his second loan spell, where he once again entered the Championship by joining Birmingham City during the January 2022 transfer window.
Despite making a favourable impression on the club during this period, he was limited to just ten appearances due to a recurring hamstring injury.
Luton Town Transfers
Premier League newcomers Luton have made slow but steady progress in the transfer window. Ross Barkley is arguably the standout signing of the summer but the Hatters have also added Marvelous Nakamba from Aston Villa and Mads Anderson from Barnsley.
One player Mengi will know from their time at Old Trafford is Tahith Chong, with the midfielder arriving from Birmingham.
