Manchester United have agreed to a proposal to loan Donny van de Beek to Lorient, according to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato. However, there is still uncertainty as to whether he will join the Ligue 1 side as he is yet to agree personal terms with the club.

Aouna’s report states that the French club have been monitoring the Dutch midfielder and have agreed to a season-long loan deal with the Red Devils, although the player is yet to approve the move.

United have been looking to shore up a midfield that has struggled for form so far in the 2023/24 Premier League season. However, the club may struggle to make new signings without outgoings, due to their tight Financial Fair Play position.
A loan move for Van de Beek would allow United boss Erik ten Hag to look at other options, although it may not create the monetary conditions required to complete a permanent deal for another midfielder.

The Dutch international is “still assessing options” for his future away from United following the breakdown of negotiations between his club and Real Sociedad, according to Fabrizio Romano. It is understood that he has not entered negotiations with Lorent so far.

The former Ajax player has struggled for playing time since his move to Manchester but has an opportunity to revitalise his career at Lorient, who currently sit 7th in Ligue 1 following two draws and one victory since the start of the new season.
