25-Year-Old Could Face Disciplinary Action
The midfielder is putting all his eggs into the City basket. If a move with the Citizens is not struck, Nunes will face disciplinary actions upon being reinstated to the first team in September. He has made his wishes known to Wolves that he wants to join the treble winners.

Pep Guardiola’s club had offered Wolves over £47 million for Nunes earlier this summer, but the bid was rejected. Nunes played in 34 of 38 Premier League games last campaign. The Brazilian is an essential piece in Gary O’Neil’s plans to see the Wanderers survive another season in the English top flight.
Ornstein’s Athletic Article
The English journalist additionally wrote about the Nunes transfer situation in an article for The Athletic. City want the deal to be completed before the end of the summer, but according to Ornstein, they will have to first meet the evaluation of the 25-year-old that his current club has set.
Nunes joined Wolves from Portuguese side Sporting for £42 million in 2022. His current contract with the club runs until 2027, but there is an option to extend it for an extra year. An injury to star Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, and a failed pursuit of West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, have led Guardiola’s outfit to desperately seek a strong midfielder to add to their ranks.
Improved Offer But Patience Wearing Thin
City improved upon their initial bid for Nunes and offered Wolves £52 million, according to The Daily Mail. This comes after the midfielder was left out of the squad for Wolves’ victory over Everton on Saturday. The extra £5 million, though, might not be enough for the Citizens to get their man.
Guardiola is “a big admirer of Nunes” following his performances against the reigning English champions when he was still in Portugal. But admiration alone will not complete the deal. The Wanderers want £60 million for the 25-year-old, and will not see him leave for a penny less than that.
