Romano also claimed that they have told both the player and the Bundesliga club about this. The journalist has now also noted that the two parties have “now reached an agreement in principle” for the 27-year-old, which includes a £25.6 million fee with £2.5 million in add-ons. However, he adds that an important factor remains as the German side needs to find his replacement before allowing the Frenchman to leave.
This could come as bad news for the Red Devils, who were strongly linked to the French defender as a possible replacement for Harry Maguire. However, with the Englishman still in the squad, their move for Pavard has reportedly stalled and that has allowed Inter to take control.
Are United Working On Anything?
Ever since they suffered the loss to Spurs, United fans have been up in arms, demanding more signings to strengthen the squad before the summer window ends. Romano has reassured them that the club are still interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. They are also trying to find a resolution over the future of midfielders like Donny van de Beek or Scott McTominay before being able to sign another midfielder.

In terms of their defensive situation, Erik ten Hag revealed recently that the club is in talks with Jonny Evans to sign a one-year contract to stay with them. Despite their interest in Pavard, who has been hailed as a “top team player” by Tuchel, time is running out for the Red Devils as Inter appear to have taken an upper hand in signing the 2018 World Cup winner.
