With Harry Kane finally completing his move to Bayern Munich in the last few days in what was a major transfer move for both sides, Tottenham Hotspur are in the market to find one, or multiple, frontline replacements. Charlie Eccleshare wrote an article for The Athletic revealing their “concrete plans” on who the North London club have identified to replace the frontman.

Multiple Targets Wanted
According to Eccleshare’s article, Spurs have been looking at future replacements for their star man for some time but face an “almost impossible” challenge.
Ange Postecoglou, during an interview mentioned in the piece, weighed up their options stating “I don’t think there’s a like-for-like replacement for Harry”. This may suggest the Liliwhites will focus on signing multiple replacements rather than a lone target man.

Tottenham’s long-term future has arguably already been secured with the signing of Argentine attacker Alejo Veliz, but an immediate forward/striker is currently needed to lead them into their upcoming Premier League campaign.
Three names were highlighted in The Athletic article. All of them are being targeted by Postecoglou as potential attacking players. The names are Ivan Toney of Brentford, Gift Orban of K.A.A. Gent, and Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forrest.
The Players
Ivan Toney – Facing a lengthy ban to begin the season, Toney would not be able to make an instant impact in North London. He would, though, be able to provide a January signing boost. The Athletic also believe he would be able to provide the pivotal goal-scoring capabilities that Kane possessed.

Gift Orban – Labelled as one of the most “in-form players in the world,” the 21-year-old Nigerian forward would be making a huge jump to the English top flight from the Belgian league. Orban scored an incredible 15 goals in 16 Belgian first-division appearances, which has drawn the eyes of Tottenham club officials and fans.
Brennan Johnson – Himself a target of Toney’s club Brentford, Johnson, who would cost £50 million, is another young target but one who arguably already has the desired Premier League pedigree to fill the role. With dozens of goals for Forest and only 22 years old, the Englishman could be an attractive option.
Desperation but Not Despair
Postecoglou’s side are looking frantically for a Kane replacement, but are not throwing in the towel on the season. An eighth-placed finish last season deprived them of a spot in European football, but the Lilywhites have no intention of falling short again this year.
