Why are Chelsea Chasing Tyler Adams?

The USMNT midfielder is a relatively new target for the Stamford Bridge outfit, but he makes complete sense as a part of the club. Mauricio Pochettino is currently lacking a powerful defensive midfielder, and Adams fits the bill perfectly with incredible statistics for breaking up play and delivering the ball across the pitch.

One of the main concerns that fans might have is around Adams’ fitness, with the international captain missing a significant portion of last season. In a recent press conference Daniel Farke noted that he is only just returning from training now, and so may miss a few games for Todd Boehly’s side.

How the Deal with Leeds United Got Done?

Forging an agreement with Leeds United was a pretty easy task for Chelsea’s negotiating team, as there was no need to negotiate at all. As part of his contract with the Yorkshire club, Adams had a release clause that activated in the event that the club were relegated. In spite of the Peacocks securing a narrow profit of £2 million on the fee paid last season, losing the midfielder for the promotion push could be a big concern.

As a young player, the USMNT international is likely to sign a relatively long contract with the club. These have become a trademark of Todd Boehly’s reign, with the club looking to retain players on longer contracts both for squad planning purposes and to increase the amount of money amortised for FFP purposes.
