After reportedly agreeing to a deal with Atalanta over a move for Danish striker Rasmus Højlund, Manchester United are now setting their eyes on a midfielder. Although Sofyan Amrabat has been linked to them for weeks, Florian Plettenberg claims that the Red Devils are still targeting Leon Goretzka of Bayern Munich.

The Situation Between Leon Goretzka and Thomas Tuchel
Despite Joshua Kimmich declaring his teammate “incredibly important” for the team, there is evidence to suggest that Tuchel has relegated the German to a substitute role.

Would This Impact Negotiations with Amrabat?
Fabrizio Romano reports that a bid will be sent for Amrabat once Fred or Donny Van de Beek’s exits occur, confirming that the English club is still interested in the Fiorentina player. With the move looking likely, it would take a falling out between the two parties for the deal to fail.

West Ham United Also Eyeing Goretzka
Plettenburg’s report also states that Goretzka is being targeted by fellow Premier League club West Ham United as a Declan Rice replacement. If his problems with Die Roten continue, it is possible that he could be persuaded to join the Hammers.
This is aided by the fact that the right-footed footballer has admired the tactics and style of play that David Moyes puts on the pitch, according to Daniel Harris of The Guardian.
Although opting for a team that is not competing in the Champions League is unlikely to occur, the Old Trafford side could end up regretting the decision to not go after Goretzka if he displays his quality week after week with another team in the top flight.
