The Manchester Evening News‘ journalist Samuel Luckhurst has given a vital update on Manchester United’s chase for their latest summer signing with under two weeks remaining before the start of their 2023/24 Premier League season against Wolves. Manchester United Announcement for Rasmus Hojlund Delayed

When Could Rasmus Hojlund Be Confirmed as New United Player?

The Red Devils have already reported to have fully agreed a deal with Serie A side Atalanta to sign their striker Hojlund for around £72 million (including add-ons), and it appears that there has been a slight delay in the finishing touches to the move.

Luckhurst claims that an official announcement from United confirming the 20-year-old’s acquisition could be delayed by a further three days. This is apparently because the Danish forward arrived in Manchester later than officially planned and was unable to meet supporters and conduct expected activities around his signing.

It’s added that the deal is not in jeopardy – and should be finalised shortly. Luckhurst hints that Erik ten Hag’s side are actually planning to announce him as their newest signing around the time of their next pre-season friendly game at Old Trafford against Lens on Saturday. This could be similar to how they announced the signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in 2021 when he was introduced to the Old Trafford crowd as their newest player.

What Is Next on the Radar for United?

With the Red Devils having agreed the deal for Hojlund, it has been reported that they have struck an agreement with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and are now keen on getting that deal over the line. They are likely to sell players, with Fred looking likely to leave, and Donny van de Beek also rumoured to be attracting interest from Real Sociedad.

For the time being, however, it appears that United are focused on making a blockbuster announcement for their newest striker. Hojlund will surely be eager to get to work and justify his price tag and win over the Old Trafford faithful.
