The transfer guru noted that deals are being worked on for both players, but the Burkinabé has a better case due to his superior experience and attributes. Although Van de Ven has remarkable consistency for a 22-year-old he has not faced the quality of competition that Tapsoba has. If Spurs wish to qualify for a European tournament this season, signing a centre-back who has faced some of the best teams in the world would be less of a gamble than purchasing the Wolfsburg man who has yet to prove himself outside of the Bundesliga.

When it comes to other attributes, the right-footed player has also been recognized for his composure, passing ability, and incredible strength during his time in Germany, with some even describing him as “blessed with pace, strength, awesome passing…”. This combination of offensive capabilities and defensive reliability will make him a great fit for the attacking style that Ange Postecoglou will implement.

Either defender would undoubtedly improve Tottenham’s backline, but if only one of them is to be purchased, it makes the most sense to pay more money to bring in someone who has as much dependability and skill as Tapsoba.
