French publication Nice-Matin have provided an update on Liverpool’s transfer strategy and how they plan to proceed in their pursuit of Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

Thuram Appears as Target for Liverpool
Liverpool have been linked with a move for French international midfielder Thuram this summer. Jurgen Klopp is planning to change his midfield dynamics with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner all set to depart Liverpool when their contracts expire on June 30. The Red side of Merseyside have already announced the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion. In addition to signing the Argentine, Liverpool are looking to sign two more midfielders, according to reports.

Despite the Reds wanting to strengthen their midfield, the club are seemingly prepared to play a dangerous game in their pursuit of Thuram. The update from Nice-Matin indicates the Premier League giants are ready to gamble over signing the Nice midfielder and wait to make their offer until after the Under-21 European Championship. Klopp seems to have identified Thuram as a target since L’Equipe have reported negotiations between the clubs have been ongoing.
What Qualities Thuram Would Bring to Anfield
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool are admirers of Nicolo Barella – but Romano does mention that Liverpool like the profile of Thuram, and with a potential fee of £ 34 million, the daily briefing suggests the Frenchman fits the bill.

Thuram would bring energy to the Anfield engine room and operates as a box-to-box midfielder, bringing ingenuity and to a Liverpool midfield that struggled for continuity and form last season – often being overrun. He seemingly has all the qualities to adapt to the Premier League, but with Liverpool waiting to launch their bid, other teams could be encouraged to make their approach.
