Chelsea have been linked with a move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, with the Seagulls reportedly asking for £100 million for the Ecuadorian international. Arsenal were interested in the midfielder during the January transfer window, and according to reports, a bid of £70 million was then rejected.

The update from Romano states that Chelsea “will bid” for Caicedo – with the agreement on personal terms thought to be “very close.” The Stamford Bridge club struggled for continuity in midfield last season, with players being out of form or injured. A recent report from the Evening Standard mentions that Chelsea are favourites to acquire the Ecuadorian midfielder.

How Caicedo Could Improve Chelsea‘s Midfield

Caicedo has been described as “world-class” and would improve the Chelsea midfield. The Ecuador international has excelled for the the Seagulls, playing a vital role in helping them secure a Europa League spot last season. He made 37 Premier League appearances for the club and was a mainstay in their midfield throughout the season.

The Brighton midfielder always makes himself available to receive the ball and is bold with his passing. He is at his best as the defensive midfielder, where he reads the game well, often disrupting opposition attacks. Caicedo is comfortable receiving the ball under pressure and is adept at helping his team’s attacks progress. His vision is another key attribute, which often sees him fire a ball into his teammate’s feet or expertly weigh the pass into space for them to run onto.
