After conceding 63 goals last season, there is no doubt that Tottenham Hotspur needed to reshape their back line. As a result, new manager Ange Postecoglu has turned to the market for a solution.  According to Lyall Thomas of SkySportsNews, a possible option is right next door. With one year left on his contract, the North London club is considering purchasing the talents of Fulham center-back Tosin Adarabioyo.

Tottenham Eyeing Potential Move for Tosin Adarabioyo

Why Would Tottenham Want Him?

One big attribute that the Englishman delivers is consistency. Starting in 23 games last season, the defender was an integral piece of the Cottager’s backline in the cmpaign, helping the team achieve a miraculous top-half finish in the Premier League. If the Lilywhites wish to qualify for European football next season, they will certainly need a more reliable core of defenders in their ranks.

According to past and present managers, Adarabioyo will be a valuable addition off the field as well as on. Treble-winning coach Pep Guardiola has previously commented that the Manchester City academy product is an ‘exceptional person’. while current boss Marco Silva has praised the right-footer for his ‘Quality on the Ball’. After multiple domestic and foreign campaigns ending in disappointment, the club could certainly use a player who will provide positivity on the pitch as well as in the dressing room.

The move would also be beneificial financially. Although Daniel Levy would most likely have to pay more than the £12.8 million transfer value that’s set on him, it could help the board save money to be used on other transfer targets.

What Role is Most Likely for Tosin Adarabioyo

Under the direction of Antonio Conte, the 8th-place finishers primarily featured a formation that has three center-backs and two wing-backs. However, the play style of the new Australian skipper consists of a four-at-the-back system. With World Cup winner Christian Romero on the team, it’s highly unlikely that the Argentinian will lose his starting spot to a newly acquired transfer. Despite this, the Manchester-born footballer will likely have a key role as a primary backup: either coming on at the end of games to secure a lead or starting games when needing to maintain fitness.
