As reported on the Fabrizio Romano YouTube show Secrets & Insights, Liverpool and Newcastle have both received encouraging news regarding the future of Torino defender, Perr Schuurs. The Dutch defender has been previously described as “the future of Dutch football.”
Perr Schuurs Future Update Gives Boost to Liverpool and Newcastle
Schuurs Targeted by Premier League Clubs
On the Romano Secrets & Insights show, the host was joined by football agent George Gardi, who spoke on the future of Schuurs when asked by Romano about the links to Liverpool and Newcastle. Gardi mentioned that the 23-year-old defender has “ambition to play at the highest level.” Despite not confirming the interested clubs, he says several clubs are interested in the Dutch Under-21 international.

During the podcast with Romano, he refuses to rule out a departure from Torino, where he mentioned. “(There) could be an option to evaluate this summer,” which will encourage Newcastle and Liverpool. Eddie Howe’s team will be looking to strengthen their squad, with the club qualifying for next season’s Champions League. The Reds missed out on Champions League qualification and struggled defensively – so will seemingly be eager to strengthen their options at the back.
Qualities Perr Schuurs Would Bring to Any Team
Torino signed the Dutch defender in 2022 for £8 million, with his current contract at the Italian club due to expire in 2026. Schuurs has enjoyed an impressive season at Torino, which has seen him attract interest from several clubs as mentioned by Gardi.

Schuurs reading of the game is impressive, which often sees him intercept potential danger. He is comfortable on the ball, which seemingly comes from his time playing for Ajax. The Dutchman can fizz a ball into his teammate’s feet or clip a ball in behind for the striker to chase. Schuurs is adept at getting in front of his opponent and intercepting the ball, but if that’s not possible, he will still be aggressive in his duels.
It remains to be seen if the Dutch defender will depart Torino this summer, but if he does, the qualities he offers will help strengthen any club he joins.
