What Did Erik ten Hag Say About Mason Greenwood?

As the Red Devils continue their rumoured search for a new striker signing in the summer, being linked to players like Harry Kane, Erik ten Hag was asked in an interview with The Times about his thoughts on Greenwood and if his United side could’ve benefitted from a goal-scorer like him.

Ten Hag replied by saying: “He has shown in the past that he is capable of scoring goals”.

The English forward made 129 appearances for the Red Devils before his suspension and scored 35 goals. However, the Dutch manager also insisted that it was not his decision to make on whether Greenwood could make a return to the United squad – with the club currently holding an internal investigation around his charges.

Stone reports that after the FA Cup final between United and Manchester City on Saturday, more focus will be placed on the situation surrounding the suspended striker and how the Red Devils decide to deal with him after his reputation was tarnished following the shocking allegations against him.

Ever since he was suspended by the Red Devils, Greenwood has stayed off the radar and kept away from the public eye. He was entangled in a legal battle after the Greater Manchester Police arrested him last year following the allegations against him.

However, after a lengthy investigation, the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) announced that they had dropped all the charges against him in February.

After that, United started their own internal investigation into his accusations and are yet to have made a comment on how that is going.

The situation is set to accelerate soon as the Red Devils need to make a decision on whether to accept him back into the squad or move him on.
