Liverpool, Manchester United & Real Madrid to Compete for ‘One of The Best’ Defenders

According to Georg Holzner of Kicker, Manchester United has new competition when it comes to the signing of Benjamin Pavard. Liverpool and Real Madrid have joined the Red Devils in their pursuit of the Bayern Munich defender, with his contract set to end in 2024. With one game left in the Bundesliga season, this could very well be his final game with the German giants where he’s been playing since 2019.

Appearing in 42 games across all competitions this season, Pavard has featured 23 times as a central defender and 19 times at right back: showing his reliability in both areas of the defensive third.

His trophy cabinet as a Bayern player is highlighted by three Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups, One DFB-Pokal, and, of course, one Champions League title. If another club manages to persuade him to move out of Germany, they will acquire someone who knows how to win against domestic and European competition.

Financial Figures

Pavard’s transfer fee has stayed consistent since his move from VFB Stuttgart: staying around the £26 million mark. Seeing that he currently hasn’t agreed to a new deal to remain in Munich, he likely wouldn’t sell for that much more than his current price.

Despite the interest from other clubs, Holzner reports that Pavard is only concerned about the final game of the season: a match against 1. FC Köln that will determine who wins the Bundesliga title.
