Romano adds that Cartwright is one of the many talented young prospects that Chelsea have in their list of players to possibly improve their youth teams. Boehly wants to bring in more younger talents that can ensure that they can aim to promote from within their own structure in a few years, rather than having to spend big money on new players.

Chelsea have already signed some promising talents for the future over the last two transfer windows. That included signing Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan, who is currently on loan at Reading. They also signed talented Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos in January, as well as promising youngster Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa earlier this season as well.

Who Is Cartwright?

Cartwright was born in 2006 and is still a teenager, who has been impressing scouts with his work for Middlesbrough’s youth sides. He’s made seven appearances for Boro’s U18 side this season in the U-19 Premier League, getting 338 minutes under his belt. He can play in central midfield and also made three appearances for the England U-16 side earlier this year.

The 16-year-old hasn’t scored any goals this season, but his performances have at least been good enough to attract the attention of one of England’s biggest clubs around. It remains to be seen if Chelsea really pushes to sign Cartwright anytime soon as they aim to add even more prodigious teenagers to their youth academy and try to ensure that the future is bright for the club.
