Champions League Rival Consider ‘Making a Move’ for Chelsea Star

Mason Mount warms up with other Chelsea teammates

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is attracting attention from Bayern Munich over a potential summer transfer, claims The Times’ Matt Lawton. Thomas Tuchel, who recently took over the German club, wants to reunite with the Englishman next season.

Thomas Tuchel’s Admiration for Mount Fuelling Bayern Interest

It has already been reported that Chelsea are struggling to convince the English midfielder to sign a new contract with them and it’s not possible that he leaves the club in the summer transfer window. Bayern Munich want to take advantage of his uncertain situation at Stamford Bridge and make a move for Mount, adds Lawton.

Tuchel definitely knows how to get the best out of the midfielder, having been his manager at Chelsea before he was fired last year. The German manager is a ‘stronger admirer’ of Mount and considered him a key part of his set-up in London during his stint in charge.

Lawton also states that the likelihood of Mount leaving the Blues has grown and that the London side is going to ask for at least £50 million to sell the Englishman in the summer window, because they do not want to lose such a talented midfielder for anything cheap, even if forced to sell him in the summer window.

Mount Also Attracting Interest From Other Clubs

The 24-year-old midfielder’s contract with the club expires next year, but his refusal to sign a deal so far – after Todd Boehly’s team reportedly started prioritizing his contract extension last year – has rung some alarm bells over his future.

Lawton also adds that Chelsea posting a £121 million loss for last season could force them to sell players to raise a substantial amount of money via transfer fees. It’s stated that Liverpool are among some of the clubs paying close attention to the midfielder’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Mount has been one of Chelsea’s lowest-paid players since he signed his last contract in 2019 after made his breakthrough under Frank Lampard. He’s gone on to win the Champions League title with them (under Tuchel) and made 192 appearances for the London side, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists in that time.
