Thomas Tuchel’s Managerial Record
The 49-year-old manager has an impressive track record, having previously coached Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea. During his time at PSG, Tuchel won two Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France, and a Coupe de la Ligue. He also led the French giants to their first-ever UEFA Champions League final in 2020, where they were beaten by Bayern.
At Chelsea, Tuchel won the Champions League in his first season in charge, beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final. He also led the Blues to the FA Cup final, where they lost to Leicester City. He quickly became a fan favourite for his tactical expertise.
His Stint With the Premier League Side
During his time in West London, Tuchel had a win percentage of 60%, with 60 wins, 24 draws, and 16 defeats in 100 games. This is the fourth-highest by a Chelsea manager who managed at least 100 games, after José Mourinho (67.03%), Antonio Conte (65.09%), and Carlo Ancelotti (61.09%).
Despite this success, the German was sacked in September 2022, in favour of Brighton’s Graham Potter. This decision from the club, did not sit well with the fans. Since then, Tuchel has been one of the top managers without a job.
What Does This Mean for Bayern Munich?
Romano reports that the former Dortmund coach didn’t hesitate to accept the Bayern offer. He also adds that the German was the leading candidate for the job. His appointment is expected to bring a fresh start for the Bavarians, who have slipped to second place in the Bundesliga standings, behind their fierce rivals.
