How Leeds United Have Lined-up Recently

Leeds United have recently lined up in a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 structure. Illan Meslier starts in goal with Max Wober and Liam Cooper ahead of him, as Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling provide width from full-back. Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie play in a passive midfield role.

Jack Harrison recently fulfils the number 10 role, with Willy Gnonto playing out on the left wing and Crysencio Summerville out on the right. Patrick Bamford starts at centre-forward when available.

Leeds United Recent Form and Tactics

The club’s recent form has been nothing short of abysmal. The Whites are without a win in the league since November, with an FA Cup run being the only potential bright spark in an otherwise dismal season. After sacking Jesse Marsch as manager, the caretaker team will look to turn things around.

In terms of tactical transition, Elland Road is seeing more width. Marsch relied on a Red Bull model of highly compacted central areas and creating chaos. Skubala has kept the high pressure of this model but converted it to involve width, bringing Gnonto and Summerville into the game more.

Leeds United Injuries and Selection Issues

As caretaker management scenarios go, this isn’t ideal. Stuart Dallas, Sonny Perkins, Archie Gray and Adam Forshaw remain out and building fitness, with Luis Sinisterra still around a week away from a return. Rodrigo remains injured, and is likely to return with very little of the season remaining.

However, there is some good news for the former futsal coach. Pascal Struijk, Max Wober, Liam Cooper and Robin Koch are all available at centre-back. This means that there is a touch decision to make, with only two of these players likely to appear given Junior Firpo’s recent uptick in form.
