Chelsea Fail to Get Breakthrough on Enzo Fernandez Deal
The Blues tried hard to find an agreement for confirming Fernandez’s signing on Monday but failed to do so due to Benfica’s rigid situation. Their president, Rui Costa, did not agree to green-light the deal despite the Premier League side agreeing to pay the fee they want to let him leave.

It ended up being a tense night of talks between the two clubs’ representatives, as per Romano, with Chelsea being left frustrated by not being able to finalise the deal. They will now have to continue negotiations with Benfica to try and find that agreement, which could mean the deal could go down to the wire.
Chelsea Eyeing Dramatic Transfer Deadline Deal
The London giants have been on fire in the winter transfer window, having signed seven players already. That includes a quality winger like Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid as well as AS Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile to help improve their squad.

However, they don’t seem to be pleased with their business yet and have been pushing for a move to sign Enzo Fernandez for quite a few weeks now. The Blues are determined to make a quality addition to their midfield in the form of the World Cup winner, who also bagged the Young Player of the tournament award in the competition.
Fernandez, who was deemed as “spectacular” by Lionel Messi during the World Cup, is pushing for a move to Stamford Bridge. He has made 29 appearances for Benfica this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists for them.
