‘No Chance:’ Journalist Issues Surprise Transfer Update Tottenham Fans Will Love; Manchester United Dealt Huge Blow

Harry Kane

According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Deutschland, Tottenham Hotspur are confident of Harry Kane signing a contract extension. The Spurs captain has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United or Bayern Munich in the summer when he would only have one year remaining on his contract. However, this latest update states there is “no chance” of United completing a deal.

Spurs ‘Very Optimistic’ About Negotiations With Harry Kane

Joint-Record Goal-Scorer Harry Kane to Commit to Winning Trophies with Boyhood Club

Kane has always made his love for Tottenham well-known. However, questions have been asked whether staying at the club is the right thing for his career. A player of his talent should be competing for the biggest trophies, but he has never won one with Spurs. This reasoning has been the driving force behind rumours of a summer move to one of the European giants.

The project in north London is now at a crucial stage, with the club settled into their new stadium and attracting a string of top managers. However, none of these managers have been able to get Spurs any closer to ending their trophy drought. One criticism has been of Chairman Daniel Levy, and his inability to deliver each manager’s top transfer targets.

Changing the Narrative Around Spurs

Spurs fans, and Daniel Levy, will be hoping to change this narrative over the next two transfer windows. This January, they secured the signing of Arnaut Danjuma, and have been pursuing deals for Nicolo Zaniolo and Pedro Porro. It looked at one point as though the Porro deal was not going to happen, but after tough negotiations, they are becoming more confident in reaching an agreement.

In addition to the confidence surrounding Kane’s long-term future, an agreement for Zaniolo would signify a perfect transfer window. This would be a big statement that Spurs are competitive and that they will be back stronger next season.

Manchester United’s Striker Search Continues

Last week, Paul Hirst of the Times reported that United had a three-man shortlist of striker options. Kane was on the list, along with Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Benjamin Sesko of RB Salzburg. The Red Devils have already signed Burnley frontman Wout Weghorst on loan for the remainder of the season but are seeking a long-term solution.

Osimhen has been impressive for Napoli, scoring 36 goals in 65 Serie A appearances. At 24 years old, he is a player, who is ready to lead the line immediately but should offer longevity at this level.

Benjamin Sesko has agreed a deal to join RB Leipzig from his current club RB Salzburg at the end of this season. However, United are reportedly exploring the possibility of persuading all parties to cancel the agreement by offering more money.
