Tottenham Hotspur are continuing their dialogue with AS Roma over the possibility of signing winger Nicolo Zaniolo, claims Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla. The Lilywhites are yet to make any signings in January but are reportedly eyeing a few transfers to improve Antonio Conte’s squad.

Tottenham Struggling to Find Agreement With Roma Over Zaniolo Transfer
Zaniolo has been unable to impress under Jose Mourinho this season and appears to be ready for a new challenge in his career. The Italian winger is also attracting interest from Serie A giants AC Milan, who remain in the race monitoring his situation as they still look to extend Rafael Leao’s contract, Pedulla claims.
He also adds that Spurs are trying to find an agreement with Roma over a loan deal for Zaniolo, with the option to buy him as long as he meets certain conditions. The Premier League sides are willing to make the deal permanent in the summer for around £26 million, as long as he helps them qualify for the Champions League next season or can deliver a certain number of goals and assists.

They are waiting on Roma to respond to that offer and even have another possible bid they can make soon, claims Pedulla. Spurs are ready to sign him on a straight loan and possibly pay a decent fee if required. The Italian club could decide to let him leave after he asked for an £82,000-a-week wage package to extend his contract, which expires next year.
Nicolo Zaniolo’s Career So Far Recapped
After spending multiple youth years at clubs like Inter Milan and Fiorentina, Zaniolo joined AS Roma in 2018 as an 18-year-old. He then went on to have a breakthrough debut season, becoming the youngest Italian player to score a brace in a single Champions League game in the 2018-19 season for Roma against FC Porto – being hailed for his ‘incredible physique’ and quality by Daniele De Rossi after that game.

However, after a few impressive early years at the club, Zaniolo has gone on to see his importance at the club dim down. The 23-year-old has made 128 appearances for them, scoring 24 goals and providing 18 assists in all competitions. It now looks like he might be headed out of Italy and into the Premier League if Spurs are able to strike a deal with Roma before the end of the January transfer window.
