North London Derby: Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal Predictions and Best Odds

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal

It’s North London derby day again. Arsenal will be hoping to return to winning ways after their 0-0 draw against Newcastle United, when they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on January 15.

Tottenham vs Arsenal Predictions and Best Odds

Tottenham Current Run of Form

Spurs’ stuttering form has continued post-World Cup, with Antonio Conte’s side winning two, drawing one and losing one of their four fixtures.

There is reason to believe, however, that Tottenham may be about to explode into life as the 2022/23 Premier League campaign moves into its second half. A draw against Brentford and a loss against Aston Villa has been followed by an FA Cup win against Portsmouth and an impressive 4-0 victory away at Crystal Palace, which saw Son Heung-Min finally get himself back on the scoresheet.

Arsenal’s form, on the other hand, has been anything but stuttering. The Gunners have won three of their four fixtures since club football’s return, drawing just once against Newcastle. Going back further, Mikel Arteta’s side have won an impressive fourteen Premier League games from a total of seventeen played.

Despite that though, through the lens of a team planning on a title challenge, particularly when being hunted by the ruthless Manchester City, the Arsenal players would have been immensely disappointed to have dropped two points at home against the Magpies.

Recent Head-to-Head

In recent times this fixture has not been fruitful for the side making the short trip to their rival’s stadium. In fact, the last six Premier League games between these two teams have all been won by the home side.

The most recent of which saw Arsenal pick apart Tottenham and secure an impressive 3-1 victory to continue their fine start to the season. However, the Gunners’ last trip to Tottenham ended in disaster. With UEFA Champions League qualification on the line, a victory for Arteta’s men would have all but guaranteed their spot in the illustrious competition – ending a five-year spell without Champions League football. However, Spurs humiliated them in a 3-0 thrashing and ultimately went on to secure fourth spot themselves.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal Prediction

Given the recent success the home side has enjoyed in this fixture, you could be forgiven for thinking that we are going to predict a Spurs win in this game. Ordinarily, that would be the case, but the gulf in quality between the two teams this season has to be taken into account. The Gunners have been the most impressive side in the league this season and are likely to dominate this game.

However, with Gabriel Jesus injured and reinforcements yet to arrive in the January transfer window, Arsenal may lack the quality needed to effectively break through what is likely to be a rigid Tottenham defence, much like they did against Newcastle. For that reason, a draw could be on the cards this time.
