With the arrival of Lisandro Martinez in the summer window, the future has been uncertain for the 29-year-old. A recent rumour circulated that Maguire was close to joining Aston Villa and that the deal was “done”.
However, Romano has cast doubt on this transfer deal in his recent tweet, stating that both Manchester United and Aston Villa have denied that this was happening. No talks or negotiations are ongoing between the clubs or the player.
Harry Maguire Will Reassess His Future
For now, it has been made clear that Harry Maguire is expected to stay with Manchester United during the January transfer window. As previously reported, the 29-year-old could leave the club in the summer, but the position right now is that the centre-back will remain at United.
With playing time not forthcoming for Maguire, the England International will re-assess his options come the summer. If talks with Erik ten Hag do not produce guarantees for the centre-back, then Manchester United could lose a very good asset to another Premier League team.
For the moment though, Harry Maguire is staying put. The 29-year-old is still a United player and will remain one, despite turning out just 13 times in all competitions.
