Arsenal Step up Their Efforts to Sign Winger Who ‘Dreams of Premier League Football’

Arsenal have submitted an improved bid to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners’ earlier bid of £35 million + £18 million in add-ons was rejected by Shakhtar. The ball is now in the Ukrainian club’s court as Arsenal look to make their first signing of the January transfer window.

Another London Club Interested in Mudryk

Chelsea have emerged as an unlikely competitor in Arsenal’s bid to sign Mudryk and they might turn to him to solve their recent problems in front of goal. Romano claims that Arsenal would have to act fast if they were to secure the 21-year-old’s signature. Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has also hinted at making transfers early in the window to allow the new signings to get more time with the squad.

Signing Mudryk would be a major boost to the Gunners. The addition of another talented winger would only benefit the high-flying group of youngsters in the Arsenal squad. Arteta has also hinted at the idea of playing young Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli centrally, where his compatriot Gabriel Jesus played before his unfortunate injury. This would allow the space to play Mudryk on the left flank, where he is most effective.

Mudryk Eager to Make the Move to Arsenal

The winger himself is very keen on a move to North London. Earlier in the year, in an interview with CBS Sports, Mudryk admitted that he would be willing to pen a deal with the Gunners. The Ukrainian said: “Yes. I think every guy dreams about the Premier League.” In addition to this, his recent social media posts also show his growing enthusiasm to play for Arsenal, such as when he posted a video of himself on Instagram, watching Arsenal beat West Ham during their recent Boxing Day encounter.

Mudryk would be a statement signing by Arsenal as they aim to win their first league title in 19 years. Moreover, it would also help Arteta rest some of his first-team stars as the fixtures start piling up with the return of the Europa League. Loyal Gunners would be hoping to see Mudryk play at The Emirates Stadium in their team’s colours, sooner rather than later.
