It was all about matters on the pitch this week for Oxford United with the U’s involved in three League One encounters.
It began with defeat at Ipswich Town on Boxing Day but the U’s bounced back with a win over Charlton Athletic. However, Oxford then lost again on New Year’s Day with defeat at home against Exeter City.

U’s Lose at Portman Road
Oxford United began the week with a heavy loss on the road at Ipswich Town.
The U’s headed into the Boxing Day clash unbeaten in ten but found themselves two goals down by the break.
Despite a positive start, the goals killed off any momentum for the visitors, who conceded a third late on.
Oxford United Bounce Back Against the Addicks
Despite their Boxing Day beating at Portman Road, the U’s bounced hit back with a perfect response by beating Charlton Athletic 3-1 at Grenoble Road.
Billy Bodin opened the scoring after some good play from Josh Murphy before the former saw a cross-cum-shot deflected in off Matty Taylor to double the lead.
Charlton hit back after the restart but Karl Robinson made changes and it was a substitute in Gatlin O’Donkor that secured all three points just moments after his introduction.
Defeat Against the Grecians
Oxford United kicked off the new year with a 1-0 defeat at home against Exeter City.
The U’s were by far the better side in the opening 45 minutes with Tyler Goodrham being kept out twice before Taylor struck the post.
However, the visitors netted the game’s only goal late in the second half and the U’s were unable to find a way back into the match.
The result leaves Karl Robinson’s side in 14th position in League One heading into a blank week, with the U’s next in action on Monday, January 9 against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
