Manchester United are yet to make an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Red Devils are planning for a future without Cristiano Ronaldo after he insulted the club with some explosive comments in a recent interview.

PSG Unwilling to Let Mbappe Leave Anytime Soon
The Manchester giants are expected to take action against the Portuguese forward for slamming the club and even stating he “doesn’t respect” manager Erik ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan. He is expected to leave the club in the January transfer window, even though it’s still not confirmed whether United will terminate his contract or just sell him after the Qatar World Cup.
However, Romano insists that rumours that they are looking to replace Cristiano with Mbappe and ready to spend £150 million on his services are well wide of the mark. There is nothing happening between the two parties over a potential transfer in January.

Romano adds that “we will see” about whether the Red Devils make a move for him in the summer transfer window, which is normally the period when the club likes to spend big on new signings. However, Manchester United have not made any move to try and sign the French forward in January, even though they will need a replacement for Ronaldo upon potentially offloading him in the winter window.
Mbappe’s Dramatic Year at PSG Recapped
The 23-year-old forward has had an eventful year on and off the pitch, being part of a really dramatic story. At the start of 2022, it seemed like Mbappe was destined to join Real Madrid in the summer once his PSG contract expired. However, out of nowhere, he signed a new deal with the Ligue 1 club – betraying the trust of the La Liga giants.
He has scored 19 goals so far this season and heads into his second FIFA World Cup with a surge in momentum. However, things aren’t going so great for him at a domestic level and it was even reported recently that he might look to leave PSG next year after being let down by the management.

Mbappe, who was dubbed as ‘unstoppable’ by Carlo Ancelotti after scoring against Real Madrid in the Champions League last season, has a contract until 2024 at PSG. It remains to be seen whether United or any other club can swoon him away from Paris in the next year.
