After being in and out of the World Cup picture, the USA have something of a golden generation on their hands. Gregg Berhalter’s credentials as the man in charge have often been criticised, but they have qualified regardless. One man who could well make a difference is FC Dallas and USMNT forward Jesus Ferreira.
USMNT Forward Jesus Ferreira Has a Point to Prove
Building on a Strong Year with FC Dallas
Major League Soccer is regularly looked down up, which presents a lot of questions about the composition of Gregg Berhalter’s US squad. A mixture of players plying their trade in Europe and also running out on home soil is afoot. Many players hope to bridge the gap between the two, USMNT forward Jesus Ferreira being one of them.
Starting first with his MLS career to date though and he has grown a lot as a player. He made his debut against Real Salt Lake in 2017, netting his first goal in the same game. 2019 was when Ferreira made a full breakthrough though, appearing 33 times in the league and scoring eight. He was on target eight times again in 2021 before peaking this year with a noteworthy return of 18.
A dream realized.

A major problem of Ferreira’s and this Dallas team in general to be honest was the lack of a true prolific edge. Luchi Gonzalez has passed the baton onto Nico Estevez and the youth culture has been continually cultivated. A few more experienced heads in the form of Sebastian Lletget, Paul Arriola and Matt Hedges are there to help along the academy graduates who are regularly coming through.
USMNT forward Jesus Ferreira is at the fore of this group along with Paxton Pomykal, Nkosi Tafari and Brandon Servania, to name just a few. A number of their teammates, whether it be Ricardo Pepi or Bryan Reynolds, have secured their moves away. Neither are yet to completely thrive away from Texas but Ferreira is certainly one who could. He failed to deliver in the post-season, leading to Dallas going out against state rivals Austin FC, but is still a hot property either way.

Could USMNT Forward Jesus Ferreira Make a European Move?
David Ferreira was a player in his own right, representing the Colombian national team as well as a number of clubs in the country, and FC Dallas also. His son Jesus Ferreira has followed in his footsteps but instead is a USA international. Ferreira made his US national team debut in 2020 aged just 18, going on to score seven in 15 to date.
This is a very impressive record for someone so young and it will surely have a number of European clubs on red alert. As previously mentioned, he has struggled with a lack of consistency at times in MLS, but that is normal for a 21-year-old. An unpolished diamond is USMNT forward Jesus Ferreira, something which many suitors could rectify appropriately.

Ricardo Pepi has gone on from Dallas to Europe for big money and this will be a path that Ferreira can look to follow. This World Cup comes at a perfect time for only one of them though, with Pepi’s lull in form in Germany, prior to the move to the Netherlands, leading to his exclusion from Berhalter’s plans. On the other hand, Ferreira comes into this tournament as the most likely candidate to lead the line for the United States.
