Last Word:
Haji Wright was one of the surprises of this roster. Conflicting reports have come out over Ricardo Pepi potentially being left off due to injury concern. Those rumors have been shot down with Wright brought in due to form. That same reasoning could be why Jordan Pefok was also left off this roster. Form similarly appears to be why Zack Steffen was left off as a goalkeeper despite often being favored by GGG over Turner. Turning to the defense, Tim Ream was a pleasant surprise to many fans. The 35-year-old is having his best ever stint in the Premier League with promoted Fulham. He’s captained them and even Pep Guardiola’s impressed. Familiarity with Welsh and English players based in the EPL could have been a factor there, as well as his report with Robinson. Lastly, Euro Snob USMNT Twitter seemed upset with Cristian Roldan’s inclusion. This appears to be the ‘we need versatility and a vibes guy’ inclusion at that position.
