“Really Insane” Erling Haaland Keeps Impressing in the Premier League

Erling Haaland

Erling Braut Haaland is a name that many people had never heard of a few years ago. In the next few months, it could be hard to find someone who hasn’t heard of him. With 14 goals in 10  leading to Fabrizio Romano describing the forward as “really insane”, find out what makes the Manchester City striker one of the most promising players in world football.

Erling Haaland Impresses in Another Premier League Appearance

What is Erling Haaland Bringing to Manchester City?

Pep Guardiola’s side has been missing one thing in the Spaniard’s side since the departure of Sergio Aguero, which is a centre-forward. The Cityzens missing an out-and-out striker could have cost them in the Champions League last season, as a late Real Madrid comeback bombed them out of the competition. By taking any more of the club’s chances in either leg, the Etihad could have seen its first Champions League win.

What Makes Erling Haaland Exceptional?

The first factor separating the Norwegian from the rest of the competition is his gait and physique. Haaland is an incredibly tall man with a lot of strength to him, and you’ll see him shrugging defenders off and tossing them aside several times a match. Marking the forward is almost impossible, which is why the striker keeps finding himself through on goal with collapsed defenders littering the pitch behind him.

Haaland’s pace is also incredible. Giving himself a yard or so of space until he reaches the final defender, the Norwegian sprints explosively, using that pace to get up to full speed right as he reaches the last line of defence. He’s almost certain to be the first to any through ball, and there’s not much defenders can do about it.

How Could Manchester City Perform This Season?

There is little doubt that Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League this season. With a goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Haaland already has more goals than Bruno Fernandes and Phil Foden scored last season, and we’re only seven matches into the season. At this rate, he will have caught Mo Salah’s record for goals in a Premier League season after just 21 games, and the overall record not long after. Kevin Phillips’ record for most goals in a Premier League season is also likely to be shattered.

The real question is the Champions League. UEFA’s greatest club competition has been the thorn in Pep Guardiola’s side for years, with a win still yet to come. By staying consistent and making the most of his star striker, there is no reason that City should struggle against European opposition. There is definitely a chance of a quadruple this season.
