He Did Not Train With Team After Ajax Reject Bid
According to Fabrizio Romano: “Ajax are discussing internally – there’s a chance for the Brazilian star to be left out of the starting eleven on Sunday.
“United’s bid was rejected but the player wants the move.”
Antony did report for training, but “only went to the gym, not working with the team.”
The following day, on Saturday, August 20, Antony again did not partake in the session at all, in hopes Alfred Schreuder and his team reconsider their position on the move.
Jonathan Shrager confirmed: “There was a behind closed doors training session at Ajax today and Antony refused to take part.
“The club are willing to sell the player to Manchester United for £84 million.”
The price-tag means there is a £16.5 million difference in valuation between the clubs involved, and it is unknown if the English side will table a revised bid.
Ajax Want to Keep Main Man but Antony Wants Out
The first incident came only one day after the reigning Eredivisie champions rejected United’s £67.5 million bid for the winger. It was then reported that the Red Devils were “not giving up” in their pursuit of Antony, despite having an alternative option named in PSV’s Cody Gakpo.

On Sunday, August 14, the forward was dubbed “world class” after a spectacular performance against FC Groningen, where he contributed a goal and an assist to help his side cruise to a 6-1 victory.
