‘Player Up for It’: Manchester United Plotting Loan Move for Chelsea Star Who Admitted to Being a Big Fan

Christian Pulisic

Manchester United are now considering making a loan move to sign Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, reports The Athletic’s Andy Mitten. The Red Devils want to strengthen their frontline, having only scored one goal from their opening two Premier League games.

Red Devils Planning Move for Multiple Chelsea Wingers

Pulisic is looking to leave Stamford Bridge in the hope of getting more regular playing time somewhere else. He has been left frustrated at the lack of starts under Thomas Tuchel at the club in 2022 and wants to play more ahead of the Qatar World Cup. The 23-year-old would be up for the move and prefer joining them in the summer, confirms the report.

With the Blues signing Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, the American international’s game time has been further reduced at Chelsea and he only got 31 minutes against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur combined.

United are aware of his interest and are thinking about signing him on a loan deal. There is no confirmation yet about whether or not the Red Devils want to sign him on a permanent basis in the future. The Evening Standard also adds that Erik ten Hag’s side are also interested in possibly signing Hakim Ziyech or Callum Hudson-Odoi West London.

The Manchester side wants to improve their attacking options after seeing their side fail to score any goals in the first two games, with the only one being an own goal.

United Faces Competition From Other Clubs for Pulisic

The 23-year-old is wanted by multiple clubs after making it clear that he would be willing to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window. If United push ahead with the deal, they are guaranteed to face competition from other clubs. The Athletic also adds that Newcastle United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are all interested and have made approaches to sign the American forward in the summer.

One possible advantage they hold is that Pulisic is a self-admitted ‘big fan’ of United, as he followed the club closely while growing up. He personally admitted that in 2018 before joining Chelsea and hinted that it was ‘cool’ to hear about the Red Devils’ interest in signing him back then.

Pulisic has made 117 appearances for the London side, scoring 25 goals, registering 19 assists and even winning the UEFA Champions League title with them. United have signed Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez so far this summer and it remains to be seen if they’re able to sign the American international – who was hailed as a ‘leader’ and praised for his character by ex-USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann last season.
